I decided to celebrate my next birthday the Irish way. Which is that on your birthday you don’t do anything and all your friends pay for your food and drinks.
Not like in the Netherlands where you throw a party and have to give everyone cake and drinks. There is also a thing called birthday bumps (?) where your friends throw you in the air for every year your age. Mary got thrown in the air 32 times. I wonder if they still do that when you reach the age of 90.
After a good night and a wonderful breakfast I said goodbye to Jim, Trevor, Joanie, Mary and whatshisname and left for London to visit my friend Laurens. I am staying at his apartment with great view of the city (see picture)
We just had dinner and tonight we will go and see a movie. After the hectics of the past couple of days it is nice to relax a bit. Since I have been in London before there is no need to go on the tourist tour. Tomorrow I have planned to visit the Tate and a few galleries around Spitalfield market, one of my favorite area’s.
Funny thing that I was more close to my end destination on the first trip than I am now. I wonder who I will meet this evening and where I end up tomorrow. Which is the greatest thing about traveling. So don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine and I’m not on drugs, but very sure I can keep this up for quite a long time.
Thanks Laurens for always letting me stay at your place. Your couch is the best ;-)
